San Pedro powder (Trichocereus pachanoi) and dried peruvian torch (Echinopsis peruviana) are columnar cactus that is distributed throughout Peru As groovelick said, Peyote is slow growing. San Pedro is much faster growing but is alot less potent. Peruvian Torch is the best one because it's almost as potent as the Peyote but as fast growing as the San Pedro. The only way that you could grow them outdoors would be to grow them in pots, that you bring indoors during the winter.

I don't like most specimens of peruvianus/Peruvian torch cactus. I threw 30 of them away the other day, effectively getting rid of all my peruvianoid material. After nearly 14 years of growing and researching these plants and doing countless comparisons I don't find peruvianus to be worth growing.
